Justin Trudeau Gifts Trump With Photo of Grandfather’s Canadian Hotel
June 2018: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared to attempt a lighthearted moment at the G-7 Summit on Friday when he presented President Donald Trump with a framed photograph of a Canadian hotel and brothel once owned by Trump’s grandfather

The Artic Restaurant and Hotel, opened by Friedrich Trump in 1897, was one of the first properties in what would become the family’s real estate empire. Trump has denied the hotel, which opened during the Klondike Gold Rush, was ever operated as a brothel.
Apparently, Trump didn’t like the joke. Some rude exchanges followed between Ottawa and Washington. Which is to say that you could take the hypotenuse for a fun ride at his expense but by the time he worked out the other two sides he did not find it funny.
